Today I want to share with you a tour of one of my handmade sketchbooks I’ve been working on from May to October.
After completing the 100 day project this summer I started to explore different directions and experiment a lot with supplies, styles and techniques. My main goals for this sketchbook were being more loose and expressive, try working on location more and getting out of my comfort zone.
One of the directions I want to go deeper is being bolder with shapes and incorporating more unlikely colours into my work, but I am still struggling with abstraction and simplification as well as with being more free with colours.
So to overcome this I tried to push myself into drawing and painting as many different things as possible simultaneously experimenting with styles. I think this approach helped me to start improving my skills, but also to clarify my goals beyond working in this sketchbook.
I hope you enjoy the video!
Thank you for being here, you’re very welcome in this space!
Feel free to share this post with an art friend and I’ll be happy to hear from you in the comments!
