Recently I shared the highlights of 2024 and in the beginning of January I decided on some of my art goals for 2025. I usually start with reflecting on the past year before setting any new goals, because it allows me to connect with myself better. Writing down reflections helps me to track down what I loved doing in my practice, what didn’t work and, thus, clarify future directions.
I created a list of goals and I want to share the most important 5 of them publicly. These goals are directly related to my creative process and how I want to push it further - I chose “growth” as my word for 2025. My plan is to share my progress in these areas here on Substack, so stay tuned!
Directions for 2025
Going bigger - start working on larger substrates. I want to step out a little bit from the comfort of my sketchbook practice and face new challenges.
Learn about printing techniques - I want to try gel plate printing and probably also linocuts.
Creating more collage pieces - as a project for the upcoming 100 Day challenge.
Upscaling some of my art supplies, especially acrylics and inks, because I want to grow my skills in using and combining them.
Having more focus in my practice. Although I love exploring new directions, l realised that I need to focus on building my own visual vocabulary to create more cohesion in my art. I also want to focus on specific technical skills, such as value and composition.
Recent art update
I’ve been working in some of my handmade sketchbooks and feeling quite inspired and full of ideas. I started making this book back in October and didn’t have enough time to finish it until the Christmas break. Since the beginning of January I feel a renewed interest for creating in it and I’m sharing some of the pages on Notes (semi-regularly). My initial idea for the book was to make it quite abstract, neutral and minimalist, but recent floral works from
and a co-sketching session with inspired me to incorporate more organic and botanical shapes into the book. I am having a lot of fun with these ideas at the moment!Gallery
