June is my favorite month, because it’s my birthday month. And summer is my favorite season. What’s not to love about summer?
Here are some things that inspired me and my art practice recently:
Helpful tips
Tips for Decluttering Your Art Space and Inviting in Fresh Energy - Laura Horn. I am in the constant process of arranging and rearranging my small art space and these tips are great!
Where to Find Epic Copyright-Free Reference Images for Your Paintings (7 top sites) - Will Kemp. Finding royalty-free reference photos can be a challenge for artists, so I was really excited to find this extensive list created by Will.
Art supplies & framing
Testing Out the NEW Schmincke Super Granulating Watercolour Paints - Bromleys Art Supplies. I am a big fan of granulation effects in watercolours and always looking into trying new brands & colours. I want to try a couple of colours from the Schmincke range and I found these swatches very informative.
Choosing the right frame for your artwork - Jackson’s Art. I plan to display some of my art on my walls, so I’m doing research on framing options and techniques. I found this article very helpful as a starting point to go down the rabbit hole of framing :)
Inspiration
Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable - Damien Hirst. I can’t say that I am a huge fan of Damien Hirst, but I recently had an opportunity to visit his exhibition focused on his process and studies and my perspective on his artwork changed quite a bit. I was really captivated by this specific project, it’s amazing how he created an imagined narrative to accompany the body of work.
I hope you found something to inspire you on this list. Have a lovely and creative June!
